To enable the new EasyCal operating mode, tick the desktop mode check box found in the bottom corner of the options screen. (EasyEdit > System Setup > Options) After this box is ticked EasyEdit must be restarted.
After this box is ticked EasyEdit must be restarted.
The next time you run EasyEdit the program will immediately start with the Instruments window.
With the new operating principle all actions are performed from this screen and the menu system is no longer used. The individual applications such as PrintCert and CalRun are no longer run independently, but instead accessed via the View and Calibrate toolbar button menus.
The Toolbar
The toolbar features new icons and now has access to the sections which were found on the main opening menu screen and more.
Calibrate Selected: The selected instrument will be open in the CalRun application.
Re-Test Mode: CalRun will open in re-test mode.
The settings button menu gives access to the functions previously found in the system setup menu.
Certificate Details: Maintain certificate cover page details and calibration operators. Calibration Instruments: Maintain calibration masters and standards. User Fields: Setup user fields. User Redback: Runs the User Readback program. Options: Program options. Backup: Provides a quick backup of EasyCal About: Shows program version, data path and dongle license information.
History
From the Edit Instrument > Certificate History Tab, certificates for the selected can be directly accessed.
Double click on a row and the Certificate window (PrintCert) will load with the selected certificate showing in the list ready for viewing or editing.
At present, if the certificate is in an archived database the Certificate window will open showing a blank list. In this case the certificate must be manually selected from the correct archive file.
Network & Local Mode Switch
If the data path entered in the network settings is not detected EasyCal will offer to operate in ‘Local Mode’
This is useful when using a laptop or PC which is used in the laboratory as well as on-site.
The status panel in the main EasyCal window shows the data mode and path information.
For this feature to work seamlessly, the individual applications such as PrintCert and CalRun should no longer be used. Instead, the ‘Calibrate’ and ‘Certificate’ features using the Desktop Mode should be used.
5025x Series 2 Support
If you are using a 5025x series 2 the series check box in calibrating instruments must be ticked. This will enable the TurnCoil conversion feature and 4 wire resistance for the 5025C Series 2.
TurnCoil Ranges & EasyCal
CalRun can identify DCI tests which use the 50X Multiplier conversion table. CalRun will automatically use the TurnCoil x1 range instead of the normal DCI 2 and 20 A ranges allowing existing procedures use the TurnCoil ranges without modification.
4 Wire Resistance
If you are using a 5025C series 2 the 4-wire check box is now available in the procedure test screen.
2-Wire Resistance
The 5025x Series 2 resistance function uses the Full Range Resistance in EasyCal, but will operate with procedures written for Decade Resistance and Simulated Resistance.
Be aware that the 5025x Series 2 Resistance function resolution is different to the Simulated Resistance function. Therefore, if you are using existing procedures written for Simulated Resistance, you should review required value for these tests and using the deviation input method is not recommended.
If uncertainties are used, the procedures should be modified to use the Full Range Resistance Function or the uncertainties for Decade Resistance and / or simulated resistance should be updated using the Full Range Resistance uncertainty.
Note: Decade Resistance is shown as Resistance in the function drop down the procedure test window
Reports
‘Cert15’ is a new style Certificate Template with some additional features. If you would like to utilise these features, you should select this as your default template.
The cover page now includes a Results Information section.
The Certificate Status is automatically set by EasyCal but can be updated in PrintCert by pressing the refresh button next to the Results Status dropdown. If you would like to manually override the status, double click on the words ‘Results Status:’ next to the dropdown menu and it will become active. From here you will have a list of options to choose from. If you do not wish to show the results status on the certificate, select ‘Unknown’.

A decimal space is shown between every 3 digits to make high resolution numbers easier to read.
