Importing Data to a New EasyCal Installation
Once you have installed this onto the new PC you will need to import the data from you old system.
Copy the data directory from the old PC to a NEW folder on the new PC. DO NOT copy the old data directory (or any database files) to c:\ec6\data on the new PC. This will defeat the object of starting from a fresh install.
Follow instructions in this order. It is important to import the Calibration Instruments before importing any procedures.
- Calibration Instruments. Delete all items in the calibration instrument list. The import button will now be enabled. Click the import button and select the EasySys.mdb file from the OLD DATA directory. This will import the calibration instruments from the old system.
- Certificate Details: These will have to be re-entered manually along with any User Field Titles
- Instruments. Delete all example items in the Instruments list.
Use the import feature to import from INST.MDB file from the OLD DATA directory. Select all the instruments in the ‘Select Instruments to Import List. Double check to make sure all items are selected.
- Procedures. Using ‘Import’ and ‘Browse For Procedure’ buutons follow the same steps as the instrument import (but selecting the PROCS.mdb file).
- Certificates: In PrintCert delete the example certificate. Use the import button and select the results.mdb file from the OLD DATA directory. Select all certificates in the list.
IMPORTANT. So the certificate numbering remains exactly the same as the OLD DATA press ‘ALT F4’. A popup will appear informing you that the certificate numbering will be retained. Click YES.
You may wish to copy over the certificate templates from the old system. Copy these from the OLD PC’s c:\ec6\reports folder. I would advise that any files which maybe overwritten are re-named.
